You don’t have to be a fan of the Star Trek franchise to know that when an episode of TV starts with joy, it will almost always lead to something bad. In the case of Starfleet Academy, it involved Tarima Sadal and Caleb; what started as a moment of pure happiness turned sour when Tarima accidentally saw one of Caleb’s most tragic memories. It was a triggering moment, and Caleb didn’t respond well. Sadly, this was only the beginning - and the lightest part - of the upcoming drama.

During a training exercise in the most recent episode of Star Trek's newest series, the students of Starfleet Academy were invaded by a species called the Furie. Their leader, N'Duwo Skra, claimed the ships in the graveyard for the Furies. After capturing the students and their teacher, N'Duwo Skra requested a bounty for their heads. Thankfully, they got help, but it came from an unlikely source: Nus Braka.

The Starfleet Academy cadets showed their skills and resolve in a big way. Viewers have seen it before, but not in high-stress situations like this. If they didn’t perform, they would have died horrible deaths. But, they did more than perform. Despite all of that, they would have all perished if not for Tarima’s sacrifice.

What to expect from the next episode

The sixth episode of Starfleet Academy was the most brutal episode so far, and it makes sense. As the season winds down, and we’ve learned who the characters are, the time came for things to get intense. This was shown by the many deaths. This lets fans know that what’s to come won’t be pretty.

I fully expect more tragedy to come in episode 7. There weren’t just deaths in episode 6: Morale was destroyed, Tarima is in a coma (meaning Caleb will be angrier and more irrational), Captain Nahla Ake blames herself for the injuries and deaths, leading to her questioning herself. And, lastly, Nus Braka isn’t done tormenting Starfleet.

Strap in. There are four episodes left in this season, and things are about to get crazier.
