After taking a break from some traumatic events in the sixth episode, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy got back into the trauma the cadets faced while on their training mission last week. And in typical Star Trek fashion, the way they got over it was anything but normal. The academy brought in Lt. Sylvia Tilly (played by Mary Wiseman) to teach a drama class to help them overcome their PTSD. It shouldn’t be shocking to anyone that it worked like a charm.
Meanwhile, Sam was still glitching, and the only way to save her was for Captain Nahla Ake and The Doctor bring her home. However, The Doctor was forced to acknowledge his own trauma and embrace that he can be close to someone again. In the end, not only was Sam fixed, but The Doctor seems to have become more emotionally available by living a life where he helped raise Sam.
The story with Sam was one of the most beautiful tales this season. It truly represented what Star Trek has always been about.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 1 episode 9, titled “300th Night”, will premiere on the Paramount Plus platform in the US on Thursday, March 5, at 12:00 a.m. PT, 3:00 a.m. ET, 1:00 a.m. MT, and 2:00 a.m. CT. It will also release simultaneously around the world.

What to expect from Star Trek: Starfleet Academy episode 9
After eight episodes of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, Caleb will finally get the chance to see his mother. As expected, this will be difficult moment that will also present him with a choice. As revealed in the episode's official synopsis, Caleb will be forced to “choose between the life he wanted and the life he's built at Starfleet Academy.”
To make matters worse, Nus Braka is back and will undoubtedly cause chaos for the cadets helping Caleb. Plus, Captain Ake will be forced to make a decision that could get her removed from her command, arrested, or even killed. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to see which option it is.
