Stranger Things' final season has already delivered some epic moments, but it is also setting the stage for something even more exciting. The Netflix original series is coming to an end after five seasons, as the first four episodes of Stranger Things season 5 have promised an intense showdown with the villainous Vecna.
While the heroes of Hawkins have faced many supernatural threats in the passed, Vecna is now more powerful than ever. At times in the final season, it seemed as though the heroes were no match for this enemy. However, the final moments of Stranger Things' new episodes hinted that the tables could be turning with some exciting new weapons.
Eleven is not the only superhero anymore
There were a lot of shocking moments in Stranger Things season 5's first four episodes, but the biggest twists were saved for the end. In the final moments of episode 4, fans not only found out that Kali, a.k.a. Eight, was alive and in military custody, but also that Will Byers had gained his own superpowers through his connection with Vecna.
While fans knew Kali was still out there in the world, for most of Stranger Things' run, Eleven has been the only main character with powers who could take on the supernatural threats. She has certainly proved that she is a match for Vecna, but with his power increasing, it is the perfect time to have some new superpowered friends to join her. Indeed, it feels as though Stranger Things has created its own version of the X-Men with this team of young superheroes.
Eleven makes perfect sense as the leader of this super squad, being the most powerful, well-trained, and courageous of the characters. She also has a connection to the others, making her someone they would willingly follow into battle. Will has proven he has the strength deep down, but will look to Eleven for guidance. Kali will certainly be more rebellious, but her connection to Eleven will be essential.
There is also another potential member of the team with the reveal that Max is hiding within Henry Creel's memories. Should she be able to escape or meet up with the other heroes in the Upside Down, it is entirely possible that she would share in some of Vecna's powers through this connection, similar to Will. That would make for a fairly powerful team of young superheroes to defeat Vecna once and for all.
Eleven's team defeating Vecna would make perfect sense
While the combined efforts of the heroes of Hawkins will certainly be key to defeating Vecna, it would be very fitting if his downfall were brought about by this team. Vecna is an extremely powerful villain who has been able to create an entire realm of monsters and evil forces. However, he is still all alone.
Friendship is such a big theme in Stranger Things; the fact that Vecna could be defeated because a team of heroes assembles against him would strengthen those themes. He may have all the power, but it doesn't mean anything if others with power are willing to unite against him. The potential members of the team would also be the perfect characters to bring him down.
Eleven and Kali are part of the same terrible program that turned Henry Creel into Vecna. However, where he was filled with hate, Eleven and Kali could represent how love helped them heal and overcome what they had been through. They represent the path Henry refused to take.
Will and Max represent the people Vecna preyed upon. They are both victims of his evil plans, but both have shown the strength to fight back, which he never expected. Both Max and Will used the love for those around them to push back against Vecna's powers, proving to him that they are not the weak and defenseless creatures he saw them as.
While there are a lot of bold predictions for the rest of Stranger Things season 5, the possibility of this super team coming together is an exciting prospect. It also continues to build the supernatural world of the series, which will most certainly continue to be explored in new spinoffs.
