Few people have spent as much time with Lois Lane as Elizabeth Tulloch. The star portrayed the intrepid reporter for four seasons on The CW's Superman and Lois and earned acclaim for her nuanced, layered performance. She was already a veteran when it came to playing the character at that point, as she had brought Lois to life prior to the show's debut on the network's annual Arrowverse crossovers.

Superman and Lois surprised people when it commenced due to its grounded storytelling and cinematic visuals. It was the first time that Clark Kent and Lois Lane were portrayed as parents in a live-action medium and it wasn't afraid to tackle some thought-provoking storytelling, which earned it a devoted legion of fans.

Tulloch and her costar Tyler Hoechlin now pass the baton to Rachel Brosnahan and David Corenswet in James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie and they are both in complete support of the DC Universe film. Tulloch has partnered with Milk-Bone ahead of the film's wide release to host a screening with dogs (in celebration of Krypto the Superdog's DCU debut) and we had the chance to speak with her about it, the DC Universe, and passing the torch to the next Superman and Lois Lane.

Elizabeth Tulloch is excited for the next Superman and Lois Lane's arrival

Having played the most recent version of Lois Lane - technically, the two most recent versions considering her guest appearances on Supergirl / the Arrowverse crossovers - Elizabeth Tulloch has been our on-screen Lois for the past seven years. As Rachel Brosnahan gets set to take on the role in James Gunn's Superman, Tulloch is excited to see the next iteration of the character, as well as everything that James Gunn and Peter Safran have in store with their DC Universe, telling us:

"Yeah! I haven't seen her work but I've heard she's a great actress and I'm sure she's going to be great in it. I love James Gunn's work and I know Peter Safran also... I know that they are both really big fans of the IP. And I think that's what you want... you want somebody who really loves the character and gets the character."

Superman will launch the new DC Universe, helmed by co-chairmen and CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, and the early response to the movie has been overwhelmingly positive. Among the many elements of the film that have received praise are the performances of Brosnahan and Corenswet, as well as their chemistry as Lois Lane and Clark Kent. It sounds like the film will be giving Lois the spotlight that she deserves, which is always important in a good Superman story.

Superman and Lois received praise throughout its run for the focus that it placed on Lois' storylines, as she shared the spotlight with the Man of Steel. Tulloch delivered a phenomenal performance as the character, as Lois was at the center of some powerful storylines, including a battle with inflammatory breast cancer.

Undoubtedly one of the most iconic comic book characters of all time, Lois Lane is a household name who has been portrayed by plenty of beloved actresses over the years. Noel Neill became the first ever live-action Lois, with the role subsequently being played by Phyllis Coates, Margot Kidder, Teri Hatcher, Kate Bosworth, Amy Adams, and Bitsie Tulloch. Dana Delany also famously voiced her in Superman: The Animated Series. Rachel Brosnahan now adds her name to that legacy and, like Elizabeth Tulloch, we can't wait to see her performance.
