3. Superman and Lois (season 3)
Worn by: Tyler Hoechlin
The third season of Superman and Lois finally perfected the super suit for Tyler Hoechlin. Not only did it have the right amount of padding, it was more colorful than both of its predecessors, with the deep blue of the suit itself popping against the red cape, belt and boots.
The thing that really set it apart, though, was the chest emblem, which was no longer just there. A completely separate part of the suit glued onto the chest, it sits out from the rest of the suit, embossed and full of definition. It's attention-grabbing, eye-catching, but also small enough not to take away from the rest of the suit (in the same way that the best iterations of Batman's chest symbol have been). Speaking of definition, there is also more of that in the abdominal area, giving the suit more of a polished finish without overdoing it like some of its predecessors.
Without a doubt, the best traditional Superman suit we had ever seen at the time, it was third time lucky for Superman and Lois, and any future Superman movie is going to have a tough time attempting to outdo this one, because this suit would be perfectly at home on the big screen.
Somehow, the show managed to outdo perfection one more time.
2. Superman and Lois (season 4)
Worn by: Tyler Hoechlin
Superman and Lois may have deserved a far longer run than it got, but it ensured that it was going to bow out on one of the highest notes that the Man of Steel had ever seen. It pulled it off, delivering an incredible final season that did justice to its legendary characters. One of the main ways that it did so for Superman was by gifting him with the best ever live-action version of his traditional suit.
Like its predecessors, the final Superman suit opted for that instantly recognizable look, while also adding some of its own unique touches. It built upon what worked with the season 3 suit, maintaining the right level of padding and the separate, three-dimensional emblem glued onto the chest. This emblem, however, was much richer, adopting a more streamlined, shinier, and classier look. It was a subtle change, but one that made all the difference, ensuring that this new suit looked much more cinematic from the moment that Clark Kent first wore it.
Something that also makes it look more cinematic is the slightly darker coloring. The main body of the suit has a navy tint to it and that stands out well against the Superman and Lois scenery. The piece de resistance, though, is its texture as it is made up of tiny House of El symbols, which completes the look - all while adding a little homage to the hero wearing it.
An example of the level of care that all involved in Superman and Lois have taken when crafting this beautiful show, the fourth and final present-day suit worn by Tyler Hoechlin's Man of Steel is the greatest traditional Superman suit the screen has ever seen. And that's a pretty epic way for this incredible show to wrap up its outstanding run.
The irony is that the show managed to eclipse this just once.
