Wolf Pack
I’m going to say it right away, Paramount+ totally missed the mark by not having Wold Pack set within the Teen Wolf franchise – and honestly, there are likely many who still don’t realize the show is not part of that universe.
The series hailed from Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis and was released at the same time as the Teen Wolf movie, and had it been set within the same universe the show likely would have drawn an even larger audience. Instead, it was set within its own universe which created a lot of confusion before the show even premiered and a lot of fans bounced after realizing they were separate franchises – which sucks because Wolf Pack was a solid series.
And yes, we know the show was released in 2023 but Paramount+ waited a full year before officially canning the show in January 2024.
American Born Chinese
Speaking of shows canceled in January, we have American Born Chinese which was inspired by Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel which “chronicles the trials and tribulations of a regular American teenager whose life is forever changed when he befriends the son of a mythological god.”
The series was an incredible series that blended together family elements with action-packed Kung-Fu sequences, and it also featured an amazing cast including Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu, and Michelle Yeoh. It’s honestly shocking the show didn’t perform better for Disney+ and we’re still salty that it joined a long list of one-and-done Disney+ originals as we’d have loved to see the show continue beyond what was an incredible first season.
