In late 2024, a new iteration of the DC Universe officially launched with the release of Creature Commandos. However, it wasn't until July 2025 that the new franchise truly took off with Superman's theatrical arrival. A new wave of heroes and villains was officially introduced on the big screen, and the doors opened for even more exhilarating stories to take over the spotlight in the future. A little over a year has passed since that moment, and the DCU is already gearing up for its first big crossover.

After the release of Clayface, audiences will return to the streets of Metropolis and witness Clark Kent try to stop Brainiac's invasion. Fortunately, the Man of Steel won't be alone when fighting for Earth's fate. Returning characters such as Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Supergirl, and Mr. Terrific will jump into action in the upcoming superhero film. Furthermore, John Stewart and Blue Beetle will finally join the broader DC Universe and share the screen with other iconic legends. But if that wasn't enough, Gotham's iconic protector will also make his presence felt, according to a new report.

The DCU's version of Batman will reportedly appear in the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow

According to insider James Mack, the DCU's live-action version of Batman will finally make his debut in the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow. It's important to remember that the Caped Crusader already had a cameo in Creature Commandos, which is canon to the rest of the DCU. However, his proper introduction could finally happen next year.

Details about the Caped Crusader's reported role in Man of Tomorrow remain under wraps, and it remains unclear whether we'll even discover who will play the character. After all, the DCU could simply show his silhouette in the shadows, revealing that he's been monitoring the events unfolding in Metropolis from a distance. It would be very on-brand for the Dark Knight to mysteriously show up in various projects while keeping his identity concealed at all times.

It's clear that the DCU is expanding its library of Batman characters. First, Clayface will take over the big screen with the release of his solo film in just a few weeks. Furthermore, Mason Thames and Logan Kim were cast as Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, respectively, in the animated film Dynamic Duo. Moreover, it has been rumored that Thames and Kim will also play the same characters in live-action. The cherry on top was the news that DC is working on a film starring Bane and Deathstroke, presumably titled Savage Hunters. All this world-building is clearly meant to lead towards the introduction of one character: Batman.

Bruce Wayne's first lead role is expected to happen in The Brave and the Bold, which has no release date yet. So, while we wait for the project to see the light of day, we could still see the Caped Crusader cameo in other movies, including Man of Tomorrow.

Interestingly, it has also been widely reported that Adria Arjona's undisclosed role in Man of Tomorrow will be Wonder Woman. With that in mind, DC could give us our first glimpse of its iconic "Trinity" reunited next year before they eventually team up in a Justice League film. Granted, this is all based on rumors and speculation, but there's no denying that next year will deliver the biggest DCU project yet.

Over three years ago, James Gunn announced the first wave of projects set to be part of the DCU's opening chapter, Gods and Monsters. Needless to say, it has been a while since we had a proper update on what to expect from the franchise's future. So let's hope a new update is upon us, and, with a bit of luck, we'll learn more about Batman's role then.

Man of Tomorrow will be released on July 9, 2027.
