The DCU is still in its early days, and it's already firing on all cylinders. Creature Commandos made fans fall in love with a group of misfits while simultaneously introducing many iconic characters to this new universe. Furthermore, Peacemaker Season 2 had a fantastic run, even if it failed to stick the landing, and Superman reminded us that superheroes should be all about hope and optimism. Fortunately, the best is yet to come.

Audiences will not only explore the DCU's version of Gotham in next year's Clayface, but they will also join Kara Zor-El in an intergalactic adventure courtesy of Supergirl. However, all eyes are currently on Man of Tomorrow—the highly anticipated sequel to Superman that has already generated a lot of excitement. After all, DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn confirmed that Clark Kent would need to join forces with one of his greatest nemesis, Lex Luthor, to stop a greater evil.

Fans have theorized nonstop who the big bad of Man of Tomorrow could be. After all, only a handful of DC characters are powerful enough to force Superman and Lex into a temporary alliance. Fortunately, we might finally have an answer.

Brainiac will appear in the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow

According to The Wrap, Brainiac's big screen debut will take place in Man of Tomorrow. As multiple theories correctly guessed, the intergalactic conqueror will be the reason why Superman and Lex will need to form a temporary alliance. Furthermore, principal photography is set to start in Atlanta in April 2026, ahead of the movie's release on Jul. 9, 2027.

Brainiac is considered one of Superman's most iconic antagonists, which has made him the star of multiple adaptations across different media. The villain stole the spotlight in the Krypton TV series and wreaked havoc in video games such as Injustice 2 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. But despite his levels of popularity, audiences had yet to see him be the star of a live-action superhero movie, and it appears Man of Tomorrow will finally rectify that mistake.

In comic book pages, Brainiac has been depicted as a highly intelligent being from Colu all the way to an android, so it will be interesting to see which origin will be used on the big screen. Furthermore, it's important to remember that the villain was responsible for shrinking and stealing the capital city of Krypton. With that in mind, it is possible that Man of Tomorrow opts to follow a similar route, finally showcasing what the DCU's version of Krypton was like through flashbacks.

Given Brainiac's status as one of DC's greatest minds, it doesn't come as a surprise that Clark Kent will need to team up with someone like Lex Luthor to even the odds. This could open the doors for Lex to gain his freedom once again if he successfully helps save the world, meaning even more trouble for our titular hero further down the line.

For the time being, DC has yet to give an official announcement regarding Brainiac's appearance in Man of Tomorrow. However, given that the movie is just months away from beginning principal photography, it won't be long before we finally have some much-needed answers. For the time being, it appears the collector of worlds is coming, and we couldn't be any more excited.

Man of Tomorrow will be released on Jul. 9, 2027.
