There are many questions surrounding The Batman Part II, but perhaps the biggest one is: Who will be the main antagonist? After watching Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne go toe-to-toe with The Riddler, there have been many rumors and theories regarding which villain will take the spotlight next. Fans have been eager to see the Court of Owls on the big screen for years now, while a big-screen battle between Mr. Freeze and the Caped Crusader is long overdue. However, all signs seemed to indicate that Two-Face would be the one to steal the show.

Sebastian Stan—who portrays Bucky in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—has been officially cast in The Batman Part II, and multiple sources indicated that he would bring Harvey Dent to life. Furthermore, Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance have also joined the upcoming DC Elseworlds production, with rumors suggesting that they would portray Gilda Dent and Christopher Dent, respectively. At some point, superhero fans took these reports for granted, but it seems director Matt Reeves had other plans in store.

Sebastian Stan will reportedly play Victor Zsasz in The Batman 2

According to scooper Jeff Sneider, Sebastian Stan won't portray the role of Harvey Dent in The Batman Part II. Instead, he will bring Victor Zsasz to life, meaning he's bound to play a scarred supervillain with a deep hatred toward the Caped Crusader either way.

In the comic book world, Victor Zsasz is a serial killer who carves a tally mark into his skin for every victim he kills. He was a prominent figure in the Batman: Arkham Saga and appeared in a blink-and-you-miss-it moment in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins. However, he hasn't had a major role on the big screen just yet, but The Batman Part II may finally change that.

According to the same report, Brian Tyree Henry will be the one to play the role of Two-Face instead, so it seems the Dent family will still have a big role to play in the movie either way. However, it is worth pointing out that this recent rumor doesn't quite add up with what we've heard about The Batman Part II so far.

For starters, Sebastian Stan himself seemingly confirmed that he will portray Harvey Dent during an interview with Deadline and even teased that bringing such a character to life will allow him to "play many roles." Furthermore, if Charles Dance is indeed Christopher Dent in the movie, then it would make sense for Stan to play his son. Of course, director Matt Reeves could be looking to surprise audiences with these castings, but more likely than not, Stan will be Two-Face.

One part of the report that seems more believable is that the Court of Owls will play a role in The Batman Part II. After all, Reeves himself said that the sequel will tell a story about "deeper corruption" in Gotham, and the Court would be perfect for such a tale. After all, the Court is a hidden organization comprised of the city's wealthiest and most influential figures, secretly pulling the strings from the shadows.

Given that The Batman takes place in a grounded world where villains such as Killer Croc or Gentleman Ghost are unlikely to steal the spotlight, the Court is an ideal candidate to face off against Robert Pattinson's Batman. And while Victor Zsasz could be another perfect villain to wreak havoc in this version of Gotham City, it seems unlikely that Sebastian Stan will portray him.

On the bright side, filming for The Batman Part II has officially started, which means casting announcements and official news should come our way soon enough. We could even get set pictures of Sebastian Stan that reveal which villain he is set to play, finally putting all speculation to rest.

The Batman Part II will be released on Oct. 1, 2027.
