There's something in the way, and for the first time in what feels like ages, it isn't bad news. After a series of delays and a period of doing our best Bruce Wayne impression and living in the dark about The Batman Part II, filming has officially begun in Liverpool, England. All the pieces are set for the Caped Crusader to make his long-awaited return to the big screen, and we already have some interesting tidbits of what's set to happen next.
Ahead of production, director Matt Reeves released a series of short videos confirming the movie's all-star cast, which includes newcomers Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Sebastian Koch, and Brian Tyree Henry. Furthermore, a winter setting has been confirmed, thanks to a set video showing a Gotham City Police Department car with snow on the windshield. However, the most interesting tidbit comes courtesy of a set photo that indicates the Dark Knight will undergo a major wardrobe change.
New The Batman Part II picture teases Bruce Wayne will wear a blue Batsuit
As usual, Bruce Wayne is feeling a little blue (I'll see myself out after that one). A new The Batman - Part II set picture showcases a blue Batman logo, which all but confirms that Bruce Wayne will get to wear a blue Batsuit on the big screen.

The last time we saw the Caped Crusader sport a similar color palette on the big screen was during the events of The Flash, which hit theaters in 2023. But before that, the last-ever blue Batsuit appeared in Batman and Robin all the way back in 1997. Needless to say, audiences aren't all that used to watching the Dark Knight sport a color other than black. However, that time is nearly here.
Many had theorized that James Gunn's iteration of the character set to debut in the DCU would be the one to wear a blue Batsuit. However, this change makes sense for Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne, especially given the setting of The Batman Part II.
It's important to remember that one of the Caped Crusader's main objectives when it comes to his look is to camouflage himself in the darkness of the night. However, a big black costume would definitely stand out against a white/bluish snowy background. That's why this color change makes sense. Besides, this is a perfect opportunity to pay homage to the hero's different look in the comic book world.
Now that production for The Batman Part II has officially begun, more set pictures should start to come our way. So chances are it won't be long before we officially discover whether a blue Batsuit will appear in Matt Reeves' upcoming movie and what it will look like. Furthermore, we could even get our first look at Sebastian Stan's Harvey Dent (and perhaps at his alter ego, Two-Face).
Fans are also on the lookout for any potential Court of Owls tease, as the iconic criminal organization is rumored to be the main antagonist of The Batman Part II, and it has been way overdue for this corrupted and elite society to make its live-action debut. In the meantime, a different set video just gave us a small taste of an action set piece, which features Robert Pattinson's stunt double, Rick English, on top of a moving police car.
It's very exciting to learn that The Batman Part II has officially begun production, especially since there was a time when it seemed the movie would never see the light of day. With a bit of luck, it won't be long before Warner Bros. and DC give us a glimpse at their upcoming project, and chances are that we'll see a blue Batsuit when that day comes.
The Batman Part II will be released on Oct. 1, 2027.
