In the previous episode of The Boys season 5, viewers witnessed the worst-case scenario: Soldier Boy gave Homelander V1. So now Homelander is immortal, in control of the U.S. Government, and there are only a couple of people left who can stop him (more on that later).

Normally, I’d have more to say about what just happened. But thanks to the fantastic job of the creative team in that installment, there isn’t much more to discuss because the episode was straightforward, but entertaining.

Bombsight’s debut perfectly sets up his arrival in upcoming spinoff Vought Rising. Soldier Boy was amazing as always. And Sage not seeing Homelander getting V1 was brilliantly done. Now, the only question is what’s next.

What to expect in The Boys season 5 episode 7

We recently speculated about how the last two episodes of The Boys could have callbacks to the comic book series by writer Garth Ennis. Among the things that could happen in the penultimate episode is Frenchie, Kimiko, and Mother's Milk dying. Initially, I thought that it would be Butcher doing the deed. However, after watching the trailer above, Homelander could get his hands dirty.

Another important note in the trailer is the visual of a character struggling to swim. In a moment of irony, Kevin (a.k.a. the Deep), the one person who shouldn’t be able to drown, may die that way. Or, since one of the fish says they - the underwater creatures - know that the Deep allowed the oil spill to happen, it wouldn’t be shocking if they got revenge on Kevin for letting them down.

Earlier, I mentioned that there are a couple of people who could kill Homelander. Those two are Soldier Boy and Marie Moreau. Soldier Boy’s beam can remove a supe’s power regardless of their abilities. Marie’s hemokinesis has the potential to remove the V1 from Homelander’s blood. This leads me to believe that Homelander will send someone after Marie and kill Soldier Boy himself. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to see if these predictions are accurate.
