There is a sense of reverence about The Boys right now. While Prime Video's adult superhero series has always generated all of the emotions from its devoted legions of fans, there are mixed feelings right now. See, the show's final season is currently airing, which means that our time with The Seven and The Boys is nearly at an end. And, as this show is not holding back when it comes to raising the stakes ahead of the finale, it's generated a lot of bittersweet feelings.
However, it all comes to an end in next week's season 5 finale, which also serves as the overall series finale. We don't yet know how the escapades of Vought International's corrupt superheroes will conclude, but we do know when they will - and how long that final chapter of the show is (for a very unexpected reason, too).
The Boys season 5 finale runtime is a surprise
The Boys season 5 finale has a runtime of 1 hour and 5 minutes (or 65 minutes). That is pretty much on par with what fans have come to expect from the Prime Video series' episodic runtimes, which usually range between 55 mins to north of the finale's runtime. Interestingly, it also means that the final ever episode of the show will be five minutes shorter than the penultimate installment.
Although Prime Video doesn't typically announce TV episode runtimes ahead of each episode's respective premiere on the platform, there is a very specific reason as to why The Boys' finale length has leaked out. As this is the series finale, it will be screened exclusively in US theaters ahead of its debut on the streaming service, and theater listings have begun making the runtime available to moviegoers so that they know how long they will be seated in their respective cinemas.

The length of the final episode has divided audiences. While The Boys has always been a series that showed up to get the job done in the amount of time each episode was allotted (and therefore never outstayed its welcome), fans are concerned that the pacing of the show has meant that it hasn't reached the right point in the story for one more hour to provide a satisfying solution.
The penultimate episode has divided audiences because of that major twist, with many feeling that the episode itself also struggled from feeling like it should have taken place earlier in the season. This isn't necessarily the kind of response the creative team wanted to receive considering that The Boys has been throwing caution to the wind and actively killing major characters off to highlight the larger-than-life stakes that still exist in the world of Supes. Can they guarantee a satisfying conclusion with just one more hour to go?
Homelander is now essentially invincible, but we know that Billy Butcher and the rest of The Boys won't stop until the corrupt Supes have been eradicated. He has one more hour and 15 minutes to pull off the unthinkable. The question is: Can he do it, and what state will it leave the Vought Cinematic Universe in if he pulls it off?
Turns out that we don't have to wait too much longer to find out!
