Back in 2007, no one could have guessed that The Boys would not only become a superhero TV show but also one of the best. Each season has provided an emotional rollercoaster by using real-life events mixed in with a superpowered twist. Sadly, the end of the show’s journey is closer than you realize, as Deadline reports that the final season has wrapped up.
"It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude. We have the best cast, the best crew, the most fun story to write, and something that is impossible to predict: the right timing. You wait your whole career to have maybe two of those things, if you’re lucky. We got all of them," creator Eric Kripke wrote in an Instagram post commemorating the conclusion of filming.
Barring unforeseen events, the future of Homelander, Hughie, Billy Butcher, and the rest of the characters is set. And while it will be some time before the final season debuts (most likely in the summer of 2026), and we learn their fates, we can be happy that it happened at all. Plus, there is some good news. Kripke brought in Supernatural alumni Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki for the ride, and there’s no way they won’t share a scene or two with their former costar, Jensen Ackles, aka Soldier Boy.
If that isn't enough good news, here's some more. The Boys universe is far from over, with one spin-off in the works and another returning later this year.
The series finale of Prime Video’s The Boys is sad, but it isn’t the only thing to look forward to. If you’re a fan of the show, don’t forget that Gen V is coming on September 17, 2025. The events of season 4 of The Boys will heavily influence everything that happens in the upcoming season. It should also lead to the last moments of the universe’s flagship show. And, we can guess that there will be a season 3. Season 1 of Gen V is better than anything The Boys has done, and I will die on that hill. It’s better written, more emotional, and relatable.
The passing of actor Chance Perdomo will affect the show, but not so much that it will make the project worse. And, we can expect the creative team to do right by him and make sure they have a proper and tasteful farewell.
On top of Gen V is The Boys’ spin-off/prequel, Vought Rising, a show that will star Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront. Between Soldier Boy’s attitude and Stormfront’s Nazi, intolerant ways, this is going to be a great show that won’t be for all viewers. Then again, isn’t that The Boys show and comic books in a nutshell?
