The previous episode of HBO’s The Last of Us season 2 brought another dastardly person into the show, and his name is Isaac. He’s one of the people in charge of the Washington Liberation Front (or WLF), and he’s awful. However, his origin shows that he wasn’t always like that. Something happened to him. He went from standing up for people in 2018 to becoming a monster. Maybe it was the war with the Seraphites or something else traumatic. Either way, he’s a diabolical soldier who’s more than okay with torture. As The Last of Us executive producer Craig Mazin says:
"I’m always thinking about how almost everyone in the apocalypse that we meet is doing something extraordinary. If they are not, we probably won’t meet them. But they didn’t start extraordinarily."
This episode also had a couple of important reveals for Ellie and Dina. Ellie told Dina she’s immune to the cordyceps infection, and Dina told Ellie she’s pregnant. After that, they feel more connected to each other, hook up, and confirm their relationship. Then, there’s an explosion in Seattle. Now they have a decision to make. Do they continue the journey to kill Abby or go back to Jackson? Fun fact, it won’t be the first option.
The Last of Us season 2 episode 5 release time on Max
The Last of Us season 2 episode 5 will premiere on HBO and Max on Sunday, May 11, at 9:00 p.m. ET, 6:00 p.m. PT, 7:00 p.m. CT, and 8:00 p.m. MT. It will also be available to stream on the platform Max simultaneously, while also being available in other areas around the world with the streaming service. In certain areas, it will air on TV channels instead.

What to expect in The Last of Us' next episode
No matter what changes from The Last of Us Part II, the journey to kill Abby in the series won’t be altered too much. It’s the main point of the series. Leaving now would be a disappointment to fans of the game and show. Plus, there are a couple of moments that were hinted at in the trailers that haven’t been revealed yet. Among them is the big chase seen between Ellie and Nora that leads to Ellie’s dark turn.
During The Last of Us Part II, Ellie needed to know where Abby was, and Nora had the information. Because she’s a loyal friend, Nora wasn’t going to give up Abby's location. This turns into a chase, and Nora gets infected by spores. The funny thing is, HBO’s The Last of Us doesn’t use spores. Well, they didn’t until now. The newest trailer shows that things are about to change for the world, thanks to an airborne way of getting infected.
This season of The Last of Us has done a fantastic job of keeping the threat of infection at the forefront of viewers’ minds. Adding spores to the equation is an example of this. Another is seeing stalkers in the trailer. It looks like something Ellie went through in the game, but in a different scenario. What that is remains to be seen, but it will be revealed in this upcoming episode.
