The Last of Us season 2 episode 6 showed us all the last conversation Ellie and Joel had with each other. Ellie said she can’t forgive Joel for what he did in Utah, but she’d like to try. Sadly, thanks to Abby, they never got the opportunity. That’s why Ellie mercilessly attacked Nora to get information out of her. And, if you think that was grim, you haven’t seen anything yet.
It doesn’t matter if it’s the HBO series or the video game, The Last of Us can get darker and it will. So far, we’ve seen the brutal death of Joel, Ellie and a pregnant Dina almost killed by stalkers, as well as Joel telling Ellie the truth about what happened in Utah. But if things take place in the show much like they did in the game, you’re going to see Ellie become darker than ever.
*** WARNING! POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE LAST OF US SEASON 2 FINALE! ***

With Dina injured after taking an arrow to the leg in episode 5, Jesse is going to convince Ellie that they need to go back to Jackson. But first, they have to get Tommy. He came with Jesse to rescue Ellie and Dina. Not shocking to anyone, Ellie does something hard-headed.
If the show does indeed take inspiration from the video game here, Ellie will break away from her group along the way and continue her journey for revenge. What she will come across will be Owen and his girlfriend, Mel, but no Abby. The good news for Ellie is that both of them were present when Abby killed Joel. In an attempt to find where Abby is in the source material, Ellie kills Owen and Nora. What she didn’t know was that Nora was pregnant. In her rage and need to avenge Joel's death, Ellie kills a pregnant woman and her unborn child.

HBO shows are known for moments that shock the world, but it’ll be interesting to see how they play this out. If Ellie does kill Nora, this would put the show on the level of Game of Thrones’ Red Wedding. Those who haven’t played the game will no doubt be shocked at what they’re seeing and talk about it for the rest of the year.
Whether or not Ellie knew Nora was pregnant won’t matter. Viewers won’t be able to look at Ellie the same way. She will have officially gone from the young girl who enjoyed bad puns and couldn't wait to become a dad, to killing a pregnant woman. You’ll have some people saying that this wasn’t her fault, and that none of this would have happened if they hadn’t killed Joel. But that doesn’t matter. Ellie crossed a line in the video game when she did that, and even she knows how badly she messed up. The question is if the show will do the same.
The creative team for The Last of Us will probably change some things about this scene, but not too much. This is too important to alter because it has a major impact on Abby in season 3. And, when the last few moments of the season finale happen, you’ll likely witness something even sadder. All I’ll say is, brace yourself. It won’t be a happy episode.
