The Penguin has been on the receiving end of critical acclaim since its launch a number of weeks ago. It's not hard to see why, as the Colin Farrell-led series has been stunning fans since it began with its strong writing, gritty performances, and incredible drama.

The show is a spinoff of Matt Reeves' 2022 The Batman, which starred Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. Farrell played a supporting role as The Penguin, but that only set the stage for a deeper exploration of the character. The Penguin showcases Oswald Cobb - or at the show likes to call him "Oz Cobb" - as he attempts to fill the Carmine Falcone-shaped hole in Gotham City's criminal empire.

Though he hasn't yet risen to the top, his plan is very well in place. Not only has he reignited the war between the Falcones and the Maronis, orchestrating that by siding with the latter. But he wasn't loyal to the Maronis either, forming a new alliance with Sofia Falcone before leaving her to fend for herself too. And with that, the plan rolls on in this week's installment. Here's when you can watch episode 5 where you live.

The Penguin reaches its midseason point

With the fifth episode of The Penguin, we have made it to the halfway point of the season. With just four episodes left to go before it concludes, we can expect a major pick-up in terms of pace as Oz Cobb claws his way closer to becoming the new kingpin of Gotham City. And don't just take out word for it, as Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO released a brand new trailer for the back half of the season, and let's just say that it looks like things are about to get intense for The Penguin.

Last week's installment was all about Sofia Falcone in an episode that saw Cristin Milioti receive rave reviews for her incredible performance. There were flashbacks used to give us the full picture on the infamous story of the Hangman, and how that has impacted both her arc and the overall arc of the series.

But this week's episode takes us back to the present, as Oz attempts to figure out how to avoid those closing in on and earn his way to the top of the Falcone empire he believes is in need of a new leader. With just four episodes left to go, can he make it happen?
