The Walking Dead has been around a long time. Granted, the original series has been off the air for close to three years, but the franchise is still alive and well, with multiple spinoffs carrying on the story of some of the TWD Universe's main characters - showing us all that there is life after death.
15 years and counting is a long time for the franchise to be on the air. It has battled rot of its own throughout the decade and a half that it's been on screens but it's still finding new ways to reinvent itself, with Dead City taking Maggie and Negan to New York City and Daryl Dixon taking Daryl and Carol to France.
Now, the franchise looks to explore new uncharted territory by giving us all something we have wanted to see for years.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 will showcase a post-apocalyptic London
A brand new teaser trailer for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 has been released and it has confirmed that some of the characters in the beloved franchise will be moving to the UK. The brief clip features our first look at the TWD Universe's post-apocalyptic version of London and, to say that it's looking pretty larger-than-life - or, well, death - would be a major understatement. Watch the trailer here and see for yourself.
The trailer debuted during the season 2 premiere of fellow TWD spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City and it very quickly had the TWD fans analyzing it with excitement. Though it is a short clip, there is a lot in there as it shows Daryl reflecting on his time as a survivor in the apocalypse as he makes his way through what appears to be a barren wasteland. The whole teaser is very Mad Max, which is undoubtedly the intention, as it features Daryl and someone else racing their motorcycles towards each other in a possible duel.
The sneak peek of London in there was really quite unexpected as the third season of Daryl Dixon is set in Spain. This was confirmed when the first trailer for season 3 was unveiled shortly after the season 2 finale, which saw Daryl and his best friend Carol Peletier escape France and begin trekking further across Europe. Could that journey eventually result in the pair finding their way to London?
It seems that this is indeed the case as the trailer features that wide, terrifying shot of the ravaged Tower Bridge in London before going on to show Daryl and Carol in a boat heading towards it (along with Stephen Merchant's mystery character).
The new wave of TWD spinoffs has widened the scope of the franchise, with Dead City revealing what a post-apocalyptic New York City looked like, while Daryl Dixon took us to Europe via France, Spain, and now apparently London. We can't wait to see how the show takes its characters there when it returns this fall.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 premieres on AMC and AMC+ this fall.
