This franchise didn't go out on a high with its third movie, according to critics. Now you can judge for yourself as it's available on Digital.

This year has been a big one for cinema, with some major arrivals on the big screen throughout. Granted, there were some projects that couldn't make their initially-planned 2024 release date due to delays, but there was plenty to entertain us along the way.

Marvel Studios staged a major comeback after a lacklustre 2023 with the billion-dollar sensation Deadpool and Wolverine. Somehow that wasn't even the biggest performer of the year, as Inside Out 2 exceeded expectations with its game-changing performance that saw it earn $1.6 billion. And now, the year is also going out on a larger-than-life note, with the hat trick of Wicked, Gladiator 2, and Moana 2 all bringing the box office its best Thanksgiving numbers of all time (and continuing to perform well throughout the remaining weeks of the year).

If you haven't been to the movies this year and would like to check out some of cinema's biggest outings, you can always do so from the comfort of your own home. And one of the most controversial of them all has just made its debut on all digital platforms.

Venom: The Last Dance is now available on Digital

Venom: The Last Dance is officially available to purchase on digital platforms as of December 10. The Sony Marvel movie brings back Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and his beloved symbiotic other half in the third and final movie in the Venom trilogy, and it certainly kicked up quite the storm during its theatrical run.

If you're unfamiliar with the franchise, the Venom trilogy is set in Sony Pictures' Universe of Spider-Man characters (which is now officially dead, apparently). Its titular character is one of Spidey's most famous villains / antiheroes and he has become a cinematic icon in his own right thanks to these off-the-wall and outlandish movies.

None of the movies in Sony's Marvel series have a good critical reputation, so the expectations were pretty low for Venom: The Last Dance. Even so, fans have enjoyed the Venom movies a lot more than critics have, so they were hoping for a strong farewell to the beloved character. Whether or not they got that might vary based on just how devoted the fans are to Venom, but it's safe to say that Venom 3 earned itself a spot among the most controversial movies of the year.

The film was widely criticized for how it handled Marvel Comics villain Knull, its overly-expository dialogue, and the arguably pointless characters it introduced. It also received criticism for its pacing, with the first two acts being deemed as "pointless" or just "too slow" by some viewers. Its third act, however, is as off-the-wall and bonkers as the Venom franchise is known to be, and I can safely say that if the rest of the movie was as fun as its final battle, it could have been the best movie in the trilogy.

So, if you'd like to see what all the fuss was about, you can rent or purchase Venom: The Last Dance on iTunes, Prime Video, and any other Digital VOD platforms.
