When Jonathan Hickman remade the Ultimate Universe (Ultimate Invasion), no one knew what was going to happen. Then, a young Tony Stark (Iron Lad) and Reed Richards (Dr. Doom) came together to find a way to stop the Maker from ruling the world. The problem is that they have less than two years to do it, and Maker's cabal is dangerous. Thankfully, they brought people together to get it done.
Captain America was unthawed. Thor escaped from prison (and Sif joined him). Janet Van Dyne, Hank Pym, and Luke Cage embraced their powers and destinies. Jim Hammond (the Human Torch) was repaired. America Chavez was released from her torturous prison. Lastly, Joena Lejori Zakaria and Hawkeye (Charli Ramsey) joined to help the people closest to them.
In issue No. 6 of Ultimates, one of the rulers of the world, Bruce Banner (and his lackeys, the gamma-irradiated Immortal Weapons) beat the ever-loving snot out of the Ultimates. Before they could be killed, Reed teleported them away. The weird part is that they were supposed to die. Reed messed with time and space to keep them alive. This led to the team having nightmares of the deaths that were supposed to happen. And in Ultimates No. 12, the team is betrayed by an unlikely source.
After seeing herself and Hank Pym die, Janet Van Dyne made a decision. She joined the H.A.N.D. informant program. So, as long as she keeps supplying Nick Fury with information on her team, she and Hank’s lives will be spared.

If I had to guess a traitor, it wouldn’t have been The Wasp, and that’s what makes it great. The original Ultimate universe started as something different from Marvel’s prime continuity. Sadly, things started to get too weird (looking at you, Ultimatum).
By the time Hickman got his hands on the universe, it was too late to turn the ship around. Thankfully, writers like Hickman (Ultimate Spider-Man), Peach Momoko (Ultimate X-Men), Bryan Edward Hill (Ultimate Black Panther), Christopher Condon (Ultimate Wolverine) Deniz Camp are reminding readers why the original Ultimate Universe had so much promise.
