The room is about to get a little bit crowded. After a long hiatus, Earth's Mightiest Heroes will finally assemble yet again, and expectations are through the roof. For the very first time in cinematic history, the Avengers, X-Men, and the Fantastic Four will join forces to stop a bigger threat. Furthermore, the New Avengers will also show up at the party, and rumor has it that the Young Avengers could make their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, too. Over 25 characters are confirmed to make an appearance, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said that even more surprises are still in store
Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be the biggest superhero crossover to date, but unfortunately, that doesn't mean that every single hero will get to be there. It's been reported that heroes such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Moon Knight won't be involved, which makes sense considering that they haven't been involved in any multiversal storyline for the time being. However, two big MCU icons might miss out on the adventure as well, much to fans' surprise.
Spider-Man and Scarlet Witch won't appear in Avengers: Doomsday, according to a new report
According to insider Divinity Seeker, Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch won't be in Avengers: Doomsday, but to compensate, they will both have a major role in Avengers: Secret Wars. While it might seem strange that some of Marvel's biggest heroes won't be in the biggest superhero crossover to date, there's evidence to suggest that might be the case.

Scooper MyTimeToShineHello revealed that a version of Spider-Man would be in the movie, but that it might not be Tom Holland's. Furthermore, pictures from the set of Avengers: Doomsday showcased Tobey Maguire in his Spidey costume. Granted, the origin of these images has been highly debated, and it's best not to jump to conclusions for the time being. However, fans have been asking for Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to cross paths since the beginning of the Multiverse Saga, and it could finally be the time for them to steal the spotlight, even if it comes at the cost of Tom Holland not appearing in the film.
It's been rumored that Avengers: Doomsday will feature two major storylines: A fight between Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the X-Men, as well as the formation of Battleworld, which might take place at the end of the movie. Every single universe colliding into one will surely get the attention of Tom Holland's Peter Parker and Wanda Maximoff (provided she's alive), but given that such a storyline will be explored more in depth during Secret Wars, it makes sense for them to skip on the events of Doomsday.
Wanda's case is a bit more complicated, given that we don't know what truly happened to her after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Agatha All Along doubled down on the idea that Wanda is dead, and it is currently unknown how (or why) she could come back to life. Fans have theorized that she could've gone into hiding on Latveria in Doom's dimension, mimicking the arc of the Avengers: The Children's Crusade comic book storyline. But if that were to be the case, then chances are she would show up in Avengers: Doomsday. With that in mind, the theory that the TVA took her before being crushed under rubble could be more plausible.

It's worth remembering that while there were common key players in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, both movies gave protagonistic roles to different characters. In the former, Doctor Strange had plenty of screen time while Steve Rogers was barely present. However, things were the complete opposite once the follow-up was released. Given that the Russo Brothers, directors of those movies, will also come back for Doomsday and Secret Wars, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume a similar strategy will be used once again.
If Spidey and Wanda are both missing in Marvel's next crossover, then there would be enough time for the X-Men and the Fantastic Four to have the spotlight, and it seems that will be the case. Fortunately, that would mean the two iconic heroes will be the stars of the show once Avengers: Secret Wars comes our way, and we can't wait to see how it all plays out.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
