Two iconic MCU heroes will "fight each other" in upcoming Marvel project

Deadpool & Wolverine proved we all love a good team-up. But what about watching heroes fight each other? Well, that might happen sooner than expected.

Do you know what's even more exciting than watching superheroes fight against bad guys? Watching them come at odds with each other, of course. So far, we've seen a few of these battles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or its adjacent realities. Granted, we had a whole movie dedicated to such a concept in Captain America: Civil War, while Deadpool & Wolverine and Thor: Ragnarok gave us some amazing hero-against-hero moments too. That being said, it's more common to see them join forces rather than throw punches between themselves. Fortunately, that might change pretty soon.

On January 29, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be released on Disney Plus and it will feature a new iteration of the wall-crawler facing no shortage of iconic enemies. Furthermore, Charlie Cox will be back in the animated series as the voice of Daredevil. Finally, the team-up we've all been waiting for will happen on the small screen... or is it? See, while it would be easy to assume the two street-level heroes will come together to stop the Mob Bosses terrorizing New York City, it appears they will need to solve some issues first.

Daredevil and Spidey will "fight" each other in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Marvel Studios officially revealed the release schedule for MCU-adjacent series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Starting on January 29, audiences will enjoy two or three weekly releases until February 19 when the big season finale hits the small screen. Furthermore, the names of the episodes have been revealed as well:

  • Episode 1: Amazing Fantasy
  • Episode 2: The Parker Luck
  • Episode 3: Secret Identity Crisis
  • Episode 4: Hitting the Big Time
  • Episode 5: The Unicorn Unleashed
  • Episode 6: Duel with the Devil
  • Episode 7: Scorpion Rising
  • Episode 8: Tangled Web
  • Episode 9: Hero or Menace
  • Episode 10: If This Be My Destiny

For starters, how amazing is it that the first episode is titled "Amazing Fantasy"? A nice callback to Spider-Man's first appearance in a comic book series under the same name. But let's shift our attention to episode six: "A Duel with the Devil". While the title itself is a clear indication of how things will pan out between Spidey and Matt Murdock, Marvel also released a behind-the-scenes clip where we get a quick glimpse of the impending fight.

At the 1:07 mark in the video, we see the Man Without Fear dodge one of the wall-crawler's webs — seemingly confirming the two will clash for some unknown reason. But if all of this isn't enough giveaway, then superhero insider Cryptic HD QUALITY published a post with the caption "Who wins in a fight?" and a screenshot from the trailer of Daredevil and Spidey's web. So, yeah, it's safe to say the highly-anticipated encounter will come to be.

For quite some time now, fans have been petitioning for Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Charlie Cox's Daredevil to share the big screen. Granted, the two characters briefly crossed paths in No Way Home, but none of them had their superhero costumes on. Unfortunately, there have also been reports that the upcoming Spider-Man 4 was intended to be a team-up movie between the two heroes, but the direction has since shifted to a multiversal adventure featuring Tom Hardy's Venom.

Our best chance at seeing Peter Parker and Matt Murdock reunited in a live-action project is Avengers: Doomsday in 2026. But while we wait for that date to come, it's nice to know we will still see them share the spotlight in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Now, the only question to be asked is whether the Devil of Hell's Kitchen will come out victorious, or if the friendly neighborhood hero will be able to best him in the first year of his career.

The first two episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be released on Jan. 29, 2025, on Disney+.
