You have to give it to Matt Murdock — he's one persistent man. He survived being stabbed by a member of the Hand, an entire building falling over him, and worse of all: The fallout of the Netflix and Disney deal. While there was a time when audiences weren't sure whether we'd see more of Daredevil on live-action projects, everything changed the day he made a surprise appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home and helped clear Peter Parker's name. Now, it's time for someone else to return the favor and make an unexpected cameo in Matt Murdock's first stand-alone series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Daredevil: Born Again is just around the corner, and there are many things to look forward to. From the rise of the Kingpin to power as the mayor of New York to the long-awaited debut of The Punisher in the MCU. Besides, Muse is shaping up to be one of the most violent and deranged villains ever featured in a Disney Plus superhero show — which is nothing short of exciting. But if all of that wasn't enough, now it's been officially confirmed that an unexpected character will also steal the spotlight, potentially leaving all of our jaws on the floor in the process.
Daredevil: Born Again will feature a character we never thought we'd see
During an interview with SFX Magazine, Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane revealed a mystery character will show up in the upcoming Disney Plus series. While their identity wasn't revealed, chances are we're dealing with another popular Marvel hero. Otherwise, Marvel wouldn't bother keeping their appearance under wraps:
"I don't want to give anything away, but you're going to see a character you never thought you would, but they get folded into the story in a manner that is organic and exists in our world. New York, in the current state of the MCU, has a lot of stuff going on."
Unfortunately, we won't discover who Dario is talking about until March (at the earliest). However, that doesn't mean we can't put on our detective hats and try to solve this mystery. For starters, it's worth highlighting that when Wilson Fisk became the mayor of New York in comic book pages, he outlawed all superheroes in the city and even sent the Thunderbolts to capture them. As simple as that, iconic Marvel characters such as Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Man, Miles Morales, Ben Reilly, and Captain America got involved in the story. Maybe audiences will see a similar scenario on the small screen, as a new law against superheroes could prompt this mystery character to show up.
It wouldn't be shocking in the slightest if any member of Netflix's The Defenders teamed up with the Man Without Fear for the events of Daredevil: Born Again. Especially Luke Cage, given that he was an integral part when it came to defeating the Kingpin and stopping his reign of terror in comic book pages. However, renowned insider HolyField News might have put this mystery to rest by revealing the true identity of the surprise guest, and the answer is better than expected.
That's right, true believers, it's been reported that Spider-Man will be the one to steal the spotlight in Matt Murdock's upcoming series... for a brief moment, at least, since he'll only be seen on a news channel. However, the implications of Spidey's appearance are huge, especially when taking into account a different report by Daniel Richtman claiming that the second season of Daredevil: Born Again will feature many "surprise cameos". If Peter Parker does indeed appear in the first season of the show, then nothing would stop him from making a comeback later down the line. Furthermore, it could also paint a clearer picture of what Spider-Man 5 will be about.
For months now, it has been rumored that the upcoming Spider-Man 4 was originally meant to be a team-up movie featuring Daredevil himself. However, those plans were pushed back in favor of a multiversal storyline with Tom Hardy's Venom. With that in mind, we need to ask ourselves: When will we get to see the two street-level heroes share the big screen? Well, it's been reported Spider-Man 5 will be just the place.
We all know Marvel likes building up their big crossovers. So Spidey appearing in Daredevil: Born Again — no matter how briefly — might be the perfect way to build up anticipation for a bigger and greater team-up. Besides, Wilson Fisk has been at the front and center of multiple shows now, including Netflix's Daredevil, Hawkeye, and Echo. So it isn't surprising to learn he could be the big bad of an upcoming Devil's Reign event in the MCU which would take place across multiple projects.
Only time will tell if the wall-crawler will swing onto the small screen in Daredevil: Born Again. However, it seems like a no-brainer considering the two are very close on comic book pages and fans have been dying to see them save the day in a live-action project. So fingers crossed that day is sooner than expected.
Daredevil: Born Again will be released on March 4, 2025 on Disney Plus.
