Upcoming Superhero Movies — Release Dates, Cast Info And More

Though we may disagree as fans about which ones are the best, there’s one thing that can’t be denied: we live in the Golden Age of superhero movies.

As a genre, superhero movies started to take off toward the end of the first decade of the 21st century, and they’ve only accelerated since then. Thanks to the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the continuing popularity of Fox’s X-Men movies and Warner Bros. finally making plans to expand beyond Batman and Superman when it comes to DC films, the genre has become one of the main cogs in the Hollywood blockbuster machine.

Like all things in the movie industry, the current run on superhero flicks is likely to be cyclical, meaning the general public is going to tire of them eventually and another genre will come to the forefront. It just won’t be any time soon, as Marvel and Warner Bros., especially, have plans to keep our favorite heroes in front of us in ever expanding ways through at least 2020.

Since that’s the case, we figured it would be helpful to have information on all of the upcoming superhero movies compiled in one convenient location. Some of these films inevitably will get shelved or delayed, but we’ll worry about that when it happens and update as necessary. We’re also holding off on adding movies until they’ve at least been given a subject. For example, Marvel has announced more movies for 2020 but hasn’t tipped its hand as to what they might be. No sense adding them for now.

Obviously, once movies come out, they will also move off our list since they won’t be “upcoming” at that point and we’ll all be discussing them together. Got all that? Sweet, then let’s get into all of the comic book-y goodness we have ahead of us.
