The Walking Dead franchise is one of the most recognizable across the whole world. For 15 years, the world of the TWD Universe has entertained audiences, who have watched Rick Grimes and his group of survivors look to outlast the dangers of a world that has forgotten about humanity. And as the walkers continue to rise even in 2025 through the original show's various spinoffs, it's clear that the appeal of the franchise is alive and well.
Over the years - and across its many spinoffs - The Walking Dead Universe has produced many stars. From Lauren Cohan to Oscar-nominee Colman Domingo in spinoff Fear The Walking Dead, this franchise has gifted us with many, many talented performers over the years. And now one of them - the co-lead of TWD's original spinoff - is set to make an impression on the big screen, joining one of the biggest movie franchises in Hollywood today.
Fear The Walking Dead star Alycia Debnam-Carey joins Godzilla x Kong sequel
Alycia Debnam-Carey has joined the cast of the upcoming Godzilla x Kong sequel. As reported by Deadline, details on her role are currently being kept under wraps, but she joins quite the star-studded production, which features Dan Stevens (reprising his role from the previous movie), Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Matthew Modine, and Delroy Lindo.
Walking Dead fans will undoubtedly recognize Alycia Debnam-Carey for her role as Alicia Clark in spinoff Fear The Walking Dead. A major supporting character in the show's earlier seasons, she became one of its leads halfway through the show's run, with many believing that she helped navigate it through its weakest seasons. While Debnam-Carey left the show after season 7, she returned in the series finale the next year to wrap up her character's arc.

She's also enjoyed a very successful career outside of the TWD Universe. She burst onto the scene with a guest role in The CW's post-apocalyptic series The 100, playing Lexa, who quickly became one of the most popular characters in the show's whole run. After her run on Fear was completed, she played leading roles in three major shows (Saint X, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, and Netflix's Apple Cider Vinegar). Now she looks to make an impression on the silver screen, starring opposite the two most famous movie monsters of all time.
Legendary's MonsterVerse has become a fixture of Hollywood over the past decade, and something of an unusual comeback kid as well. After achieving initial box office dominance with 2014's Godzilla and 2017's Kong: Skull Island, the franchise faltered with 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which receiving middling reviews and underperformed at the box office, delaying the big crossover we were all waiting for. When Godzilla vs. Kong was released in 2021, it broke pandemic records and received positive reviews for swapping the heaviness of the previous movie with big, dumb fun. 2024's Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire doubled down on the surprise, earning the franchise its highest-grossing movie yet. With that success, a sequel was inevitable.
No stranger to badassery and other-worldly threats, Alycia Debnam-Carey knows her way around a science fiction and fantasy story. We can't wait to see her do it all again in the MonsterVerse.
The untitled Godzilla x Kong sequel is released on March 26, 2027.
