The previous episode of X-Men ‘97 season 2 was a surprise to many. What fans thought was a Wolverine story was really an episode about Morph. Logan lied to his best (and maybe only) friend about his intentions on the mission and almost got everyone killed. Wolverine said that he was going to stop Weapon X, but he really wanted his adamantium back.
Before learning this, Lady Deathstrike (voiced by Erika Ishii) kept calling Morph Tomo. This was a reference to a Japanese tale where a shapeshifting fox followed a samurai. In the end, it didn’t work out for Tomo. At the conclusion of the episode, Morph gives Deathstrike a look that said, “I understand now.” Meanwhile, Logan looked at his claws and then out of the window, wondering if it was worth it.
Hopefully, Logan will make amends for what he did to Morph, because it will show the growth Logan has in the comics. However, since this isn’t the comics or a show focused on Logan, that may not be a priority. Nevertheless, one can hope.
X-Men '97 season 2 episode 6 release date and time on Prime Video
X-Men '97 season 2 episode 6, titled “Strange Land, Savage Heart“, will premiere on Disney Plus in the US on Wednesday, July 22, at 3:00 a.m. ET, 12:00 a.m. PT, 1:00 a.m. MT, and 2:00 a.m. CT.
Of course, the episode will also release around the world at the same time, arriving on Disney Plus in all locations with the platform available. What to expect in the next episodes of X-Men ‘97 season 2
The official episode synopsis for the next episode reveals that this episode will be a big one for Marvel's Mightiest Mutants, saying: “The X-Men must confront a ghost from their past that threatens their present and future.”
Now, after reading this you might think that the "ghost" from the X-Men's past could mean Apocalypse, but a preview picture shows Nightcrawler fighting Exodus. Since Exodus was a disciple of Magneto, he may believe the X-Men are responsible for his death.
Another thing to look forward to is a journey to the Savage Land. No one ever goes there and has everything go according to plan. So expect a lot of shenanigans, dinosaurs, a mutate human/dinosaur hybrid that drains people's powers (Sauron), and an appearance from Mister Sinister.
Lastly, one of the inhabitants of the Savage Land, or one of the members of the X-Men or X-Factor, could become a Horseman (I’m looking at you, Polaris). It would be a nice build to the next episode, "The Dead Man's Hand," which will likely refer to the rise of Gambit as the Horseman Death. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to see if I’m right.
