Previously, on X-Men ‘97, the X-Men fought the Danger Room, which they (and some of the viewers) learned was sentient. At first, it seemed like its main objective was killing Charles Xavier. However, appearances can be deceiving. After being motivated by Professor X, Lorna Dane (Polaris) destroys Danger. Before it perishes, it says, “Finally,” as if she was happy that its tortured existence was over.
One of the things X-Men ‘97 does well is make callbacks to Marvel Comics stories. For example, in this episode, Xavier tells the students that they’ll be hated. That moment (Astonishing X-Men: Gifted) and Danger being sentient ("Dangers") all come from 2004’s Astonishing X-Men.
Most of the characters in this episode and how the story goes and ends were changed, but it was clear they were paying homage to a popular X-Men run. It was well done and means that more stories from Marvel Comics could appear in a later season. We may even see some of the aliens from Breakworld.

X-Men '97 season 2 episode 7, titled "Strange Land, Savage Heart“, will premiere on Disney Plus in the US on Wednesday, July 29, at 3:00 a.m. ET, 12:00 a.m. PT, 1:00 a.m. MT, and 2:00 a.m. CT.

What to expect in the next episodes of X-Men ‘97 season 2
While everything involving Danger was great, it was the end of the episode that people should be talking about. Gambit was resurrected by Apocalypse and is officially one of his Horsemen. He woke up with a smile on his face, and that can only mean trouble since En Sabah Nur likely did something to his mind while he was being resurrected. It doesn’t help that one of Remy LeBeau’s last moments was seeing the love of his life, Rogue, dancing with someone else.
Comic book fans like me knew this was coming, but it was still a fantastic moment. It was especially great seeing Gambit become Horseman Death by being covered in tarot cards. And that leads us into the next episode, which should focus heavily on the next Horsemen of Apocalypse and how they were created. However, with the references to the Savage Land in the title, we could be in for another adventure in one of X-Men's most infamous locations.
