Relationships are in danger

Remember how Nico Minoru and Peter Parker were going to watch a movie, and then Peter decided to invite Harry Osborn too all of a sudden back in episode 5? Well, this tale begins with Nico being a bit more distant from Peter because of that. The superpowered teenager tries to get her attention mid-class, which ultimately gets him into trouble with the teacher. Ms Anand tells Peter she doesn't want to place another student on probation, just like she had to do with Lonnie Lincoln who's been missing his classes recently.

Speaking of the devil, Lonnie is ultimately dropped from the football team even when it was once his most cherished goal. Every aspect of Lonnie's life has gone sideways after joining the Tenth Street Gang, and to make matters worse he's not talking about his situation with anyone. His girlfriend, Pearl Pangan, attempts to speak to him between classes, but the ex-football superstar simply claims his family needs him, and the school doesn't. He then goes to his home, even when school isn't over — an act that makes it very clear where his new priorities lie now.

But while Lincoln may be getting used to his new life, his brother, Andre, doesn't. The former gang member is worried about his big brother throwing his life away all because the two exchanged positions. Unfortunately, "Tombstone" doesn't want to hear what Andre has to say, so he simply goes to the gang's hideout. What he doesn't know is that he's not going along as someone follows him in a car.

From one drama to another, Peter tries to talk to Nico back in the school hallway but something's a little bit off. Nico isn't acting like her usual self. So in an attempt to make things a little bit better, Peter invites her to his house at night. The only problem? Harry is going as well. Peter claims if he's a good friend to both Nico and Harry, maybe they too could get along. While she isn't sure at first, she agrees and seems to cheer up for the first time in a while. But before the trio of almost-friends can hang out, Peter is told in school that he'll need a new class partner now that Lincoln is gone. And who will get to be the lucky student to do homework with the brilliant teenager? None other than Pearl Pangan.

Back at Oscorp Industries, Peter and Harry talk about their upcoming hangout with Nico when Norman Osborn shows up and says they've all earned themselves a free night. After all, the mastermind behind Oscorp is going to a charity event and can't help Spider-Man save the day as he usually does. But just as Peter gets ready to head back home, he spots his internship colleague, Jeanne Foucault, attempting to get into Norman's office without invitation — a pretty mysterious act if you were to ask me.

There's something wrong with Norman Osborn

Back at Aunt May's apartment, Peter, Nico, and Harry finally hang out. While things start off slowly, with more awkward pauses than anyone's comfortable with, the three get the hang of things by putting on some old VHS and playing board games. Everything's going fine for once, but this is a Spider-Man story we're talking about, which means trouble is about to strike. The night then gets interrupted thanks to Norman Osborn. He met with General Thaddeus Ross back at the charity event and tried to "sell" Spider-Man as a superhuman asset when Oscorp Industries suffered from a security breach. Desperate to prevent classified information from being stolen, Norman calls Peter, tells him to suit up, and investigate what is going on.

Back at the Oscorp helipad, Spider-Man spots an intruder Marvel fans are all too familiar with: Daredevil. A fight between the two quickly breaks loose, with The Devil of Hell's Kitchen claiming that "Osborn is hiding something". The two heroes go toe-to-toe in what is a pretty awesome sequence, but Spidey's inexperience ultimately costs him the fight and Matt Murdock is able to escape. Norman quickly makes his way to the Oscorp tower and talks with Peter about everything that just happened.

At long last, Norman decides to tell the truth... or so it would seem at first glance. He claims that the intruder must have been digging Oscorp's files about Otto Octavius — a brilliant scientist who Norman worked with in the past, but apparently hated sharing recognition for their inventions. Otto's arrogance seemingly led him to steal every tech prototype he worked on, go underground, and sell them to small-time criminals. Lastly, Norman attempts to persuade Peter that Daredevil must've been hired by Otto, but the wall-crawler isn't convinced. On the bright side, now that the cat is out of the bag, Norman Osborn says they can track the tech in Otto's inventions and discover where he's hiding.

Once the dust is settled, Peter returns to his apartment where Harry and Nico where still hanging out, but he discovers he has an even bigger problem to deal with. Harry accidentally gave away that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, which is confirmed when Peter drops his school bag and his superhero mask falls out. Nico then goes away with a very disappointed look on her face. And to make matters even worse (as if that was possible), the episode cuts to a shot of Mac Gargan being turned into the Scorpion courtesy of Otto Octavius. Will there ever be a happy ending to this tale? Well, there's only one way to know.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man airs new episodes on Disney Plus on Wednesdays.
