Jessica Jones Is The Likely Second Marvel Netflix Show Following Daredevil

While it’s been common knowledge that Marvel’s deal with Netflix will lead to shows for four individual characters — Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones — followed by all four heroes teaming together in a Defenders mini-series, we haven’t heard much about what order they’d air in following Daredevil, which leads off the initiative next spring.

More from TV

Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos cleared up some of the speculation in an interview with Empire, saying that Ms. Jones was probably in the on-deck circle:

"Right now, the writers’ rooms are open and they’re looking at casting Jessica. Eventually the series will run very close together. You can then have a separate season where the characters will cross over."

That’s logical because of the close ties the characters in this particular foursome have in the pages of Marvel comics. Cage and Iron Fist are longtime friends and former partners, Jones and Cage are married and have a daughter, and Iron Fist and Daredevil are close enough that the former once filled in for the latter.

An even more tantalizing question was answered as well when Sarandos was asked about the possibility of the TV heroes eventually making it into the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

"It has definitely been talked about."

That should help make the Netflix shows even more can’t-miss propositions than they already appear to be.
