The Scene: The Hulkbuster Armor

A suit specifically designed to take on the Hulk if he were to ever get out of control, which is pretty much what we see in the trailer.  The armor has its roots in the comics and has a fascinating history.

From the Pages of Comics

Officially, the armor made its first appearance in Iron Man #304 (May 1994).  It was created by Tony Stark to face off against the Hulk, who was angered at the production of Gamma bombs by Stane International, a company formed by Obidiah Stane.  Later, both Hulk and Tony were able to settle their differences, and together, they dismantled Stane International’s plant.

If you’re able to play the trailer in slow motion during Tony’s Hulkbuster suiting up sequence, you can see modules flying through the air and assembling themselves onto Iron Man.  This only means one thing: this version of the Hulkbuster armor is the Extremis version!
