30 Fun Facts About The Avengers: Age Of Ultron Trailer
By Steve Lam
The Scene: Steve Rogers vs. Mjolnir
When Thor in the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer makes a bet that none of the Avengers are worthy enough to lift Mjolnir, his hammer, every guy with an ego has to take a shot. Steve Rogers tries and it budges just enough to allow a waterfall of concern to wash away Thor’s cocky grin. In the end, Mjolnir still isn’t lifted, but it does show that Rogers’s integrity and righteousness are almost god-like. Steve shouldn’t feel so bad because if the storylines will be drawn from the comics, he and other “worthy” people will one day wield Mjolnir.
From the Pages of Comics
Steve Rogers has lifted Mjolnir twice. The first time was in The Mighty Thor #390 (1998), when Rogers went by the new alter-ego of The Captain. He had to pick up Mjolnir in order to send it back to Thor. The second time was in Fear Itself #7 (2011), when he had to wield Mjolnir after his Vibranium shield was shattered by the Serpent. Other characters who have lifted Mjolnir in canon have been Odin, Donald Blake, Beta Ray Bill, Red Norvell, Thunderstrike, Wonder Man, Jake Olson, Throg, Awesome Andy, Air Walker, Cecil McAdam, and the new female Thor.
