Sony’s next Marvel project set to begin production very soon
A live-action Silk series is set to begin filming late this summer with casting for Cindy Moon ongoing.
Silk is set to be the next Spider-Man-related spin-off project set within Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters and it appears that things are moving forward for that production. As reported by Discussing Film (H/T: The Illuminerdi), the series, which will focus on Cindy Moon/Silk, is set to begin filming in August.
A fairly new creation in Marvel Comics, Cindy made her debut in The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 3 No. 1 during the spring of 2014. She was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos and Silk was officially introduced as part of a tie-in to the “Original Sin” storyline.

The Korean-American teenager was bitten by the very same irradiated spider that bit Peter Parker moments after it did so. Life turned out slightly differently for her, however, because not only did she have newfound arachnid-like abilities, she was capable of an advanced spider-sense and she could also generate organic webbing from her fingertips.
This potential adaptation of the Silk character has been in active development for about eight months and Phil Lord and Chris Miller are set to produce it. The pair signed a five-year multi-million dollar deal to adapt various Marvel properties for Sony and this is now one of those projects.
When is Sony’s Silk series released?
The Silk series still very much feels like it’s coming together. A recent report from The Illuminerdi suggests that Altered Carbon writer/producer, Sang Kya Kim, could be in negotiations to serve as head writer and executive producer. This comes after Variety revealed that Atypical and Good Trouble‘s Lauren Moon was in the running to write.
Casting for the role of Cindy is underway and the Silk series is to be produced by Lord and Miller under their Lord Miller Productions banner. It’s not yet known when it will be released.
