Ernie Hudson Playing Iris West’s Dad On The Flash?

When it comes to tidbits of casting information for upcoming TV shows, sometimes the most important thing is connecting the dots. Crave Online did that yesterday, surmising that Ernie Hudson may be playing Iris West’s dad, a police detective and surrogate father to Barry Allen when “The Flash” speeds onto The CW.

Best known as the fourth Ghostbuster and a veteran of many prominent TV shows, Hudson would add an instantly recognizable face to the show. If his Detective West actually welcomes Allen into his household, Crave is also probably right in guessing that “The Flash” will follow the New 52 origin that has Barry essentially an orphan because his father is in jail for killing his mother—and that means clearing his father’s name could also be a big part of Grant Gustin’s take on Allen.

Any further speculation about the West family is just that, but it would be interesting if the writers work in Iris’ ne’er-do-well brother Daniel from current continuity. And of course, any possibility that Wally West could be involved gives a glimmer of hope to his fans, as DC has seemed pretty comfortable leaving him out of the New 52 stories.

That’s getting ahead of ourselves though. For now, it would simply be awesome to see Hudson in a regular role on “The Flash.” Let’s hope it comes to pass.
