Andrew Garfield wants Spider-Man to crossover with Avengers
By Josh Hill
A while back, we heard that Hugh Jackman had lobbied for Wolverine to crossover with Spider-Man on the big screen but it never needed up happening. This week saw a similar request from series star Andrew Garfield, who pondered the idea of having Spider-Man take after the comics and crossover with the Avengers on film.
Per an interview with Yahoo! Movies UK:
"“I would love that,” explained Garfield to Yahoo when we quizzed him on the subject, “I know that the fans would love that, the fans of the Marvel universe… the more the merrier, the bigger the better … I would love that, as a fan, I think that would be great. I don’t know how that would happen, but I certainly would be supportive of it.”"
Simply put, it’s never going to happen. Avengers is owned by marvel Studios and Disney which means that even though both Avengers and Spider-Man are both Marvel comics characters, they’re owned by two separate studios who have no interest in joining forces.
It could happen under some bizarre and frankly unrealistic set of circumstances, but for now we can only image what a cinematic crossover would look like
