Marvel To Reveal All-New Young Guns At C2E2

We’re going to assume that Marvel is talking about artists and not about a new version of these guys (although that would be cool too). As you can see from the teaser, we’ll learn the truth at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, otherwise known as C2E2, which takes place April 25 through 27.

The “Young Guns” motif was first used ten years ago by Marvel to tout six artists that the company thought were destined for big things. That first roster was pretty stacked, consisting of David Finch, Steve McNiven, Adi Granov, Oilver Coipel, Jim Cheung and Trevor Hairsine. It’s safe to say that group went on to produce some incredible work.

A second batch of Young Guns was christened in 2006, and yes, that means the first batch was still pretty young. Billy Tan, Clayton Crain, Simone Bianchi, Pascal Ferry, Ariel Olivetti and Leinil Yu made up that group, and while they collectively probably haven’t gone on to as much fame as their predecessors, they’ve still accomplished quite a bit.

All that is my way of saying that whoever Marvel has tapped this time around has some high standards to meet. I’m intrigued to see who gets the call next weekend. The whole thing also ties in nicely with the company’s All-New Marvel NOW! initiative, which surely is no coincidence.
