Marvel Provides First Cover, Details For AXIS
By Nick Tylwalk
If you aren’t excited yet for this fall’s Avengers & X-Men: AXIS event yet, Marvel is doing its best to change that. Along with the cover to issue #1, which you can see above, Marvel also dished out some of the details of the nine-issue series that starts in October.

Some of them we already knew. The main threat is a big one: the Red Skull, now enhanced with the power of Onslaught thanks to his unholy borrowing of the late Professor X’s brain. Given that he has access to such unthinkable power, what can possibly stop him?
Here’s what Marvel has to say on that subject:
"The fractured teams of Avengers and X-Men are now all that stands in the way of total obliteration. Earth’s last hope now hinges on the fragile alliance of these two estranged teams. In the shadows of the Red Supremacy, can they fight as one? Even united, they may not be enough to stem the coming darkness. And if they fall, all hope is lost."
Sounds ominous, no? Writer Rick Remender is joined by artists Adam Kubert, Lenil Yu, Terry Dodson and Jim Cheung to tell the tale. But the story truly begins a month earlier when the “March to AXIS” runs through several titles in September. Check out Uncanny Avengers #24, Captain America #24, Magneto #9 and Loki: Agent of Asgard #6 for the prelude to this saga.
