Rosario Dawson Cast In Daredevil As … Someone

Marvel announced Friday that a well-known actress was joining the cast of its upcoming Daredevil series on Netflix. What the company didn’t say is exactly who she’s going to play.

Rosario Dawson will appear in a regular role in the 13-episode Daredevil series, featuring alongside Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. She has a long list of movie credits on her resume, including comics-related material like Sin City and Men in Black II.

Who exactly is Dawson going to be? That’s not entirely clear, as Marvel’s Jeph Loeb had only this to say:

"Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil."

Right then. The official announcement also said Dawson’s mystery character would be “a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life.” That would seem to rule out the villainous Typhoid Mary, but Daredevil’s comic book history is pretty rich with strong supporting female characters. Dawson could easily be playing Elektra, Echo or Karen Page, though the last of those possibilities might be a waste of the physicality she brings to the table.
