‘Gotham’ Director Talks Mr. Freeze!
By Skip Harvey
Danny Cannon, the director for FOX’s Gotham pilot, recently sat down with HitFix about the creation and formation of the highly anticipated show. Much of what he said mirrors what we’ve been hearing from those involved for a while now, but Cannon did offer up a new tidbit. When asked if there was a moment he looked forward to being able to possibly direct as the first season unfolded, he responded:
"have a big pitch with Bruno [Heller] about the Mr. Freeze character, whose origins are uncertain. If I can win Geoff Johns over and if I can win Bruno over, then I look forward to the moment where that character can be realized."

Mr. Freeze has a very specific origin, so they must surely debate changing it as they go forward. One of the keys to making this show work will have to be not alienating the real Batman fanbase by appealing too much to the ‘mainstream’ audience. I look forward to seeing how that might go.
