While the backstory of Matt Murdock’s father, boxer “Battlin'” Jack Murdock, has been told multiple times and tampered with over the years, his mother has remained something of a mystery. Matt would later meet her as a nun named Sister Maggie, but what exactly happened to send her on that path? And what happened that left Jack and Matt with only each other as the Man Without Fear went through his formative years?

It sounds like a secret, and those have had a hard time staying hidden thanks to the events of Original Sin. The Murdocks are not immune to the vast knowledge of the Watchers spilling out into the open, which is why Daredevil #6 is going to a place we haven’t seen before. Writer Mark Waid and artist Javier Rodriguez are ready to give Matt some answers, or at least to start him on the path to learning what exactly broke up his family and caused his mother to become Sister Maggie. Ominously, the Marvel teaser says this about the latest meeting between mother and son:

"Matt Murdock made peace with his mother’s absence long ago, even though he never knew why. Now, thanks to the events of Original Sin, the Man Without Fear will be set on a path that will send her crashing back into his life! Only their meeting won’t be exactly as he imagined!"

If you want to find out what that’s all about, you’ll have to wait until Daredevil #6 hits comic stores and digital on July 23. But because we’re nice like that, we’ve got a couple preview pages to share if you just scroll down a bit.
