Harley Quinn Gets Meta at Comic-Con

In conjunction with San Diego Comic-Con, DC is releasing a Harley Quinn one-shot…with her at Comic-Con.

"n the special DC Comics one-shot issue Harley Quinn Invades Comic-Con International: San Diego, Harley Quinn, the psychiatrist-turned-psychopath, goes celeb hunting at the pop-culture festival and hits the bullseye with the Arrow himself — actually, Arrow star Stephen Amell. His cameo is one of many Easter eggs jammed into the book, written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner and drawn by various artists."

That’s right, Stephen Amell makes an appearance as himself at SDCC. Connor and Palmiotti have exercised one of my favorite DC traditions and broke the 4th wall. If there was a perfect setting for doing so, it would be Comic-Con International. Considering how many Harley Quinns you’ll see running around on the floor, You’ll feel like you’re in the comic as well.

"The story reveals that Harley herself is an amateur comic illustrator. “She has a comic strip that she wants to show off at the Con to see if anyone’s interested in hiring her to draw it,” Palmiotti says. “It features a character Harley made up called Hurl Girl, a superhero whose power is to throw up.”"

Gross. But Harley is losing her mind, so it doesn’t surprise me. She’s quickly becoming the Deadpool of the DCU. Caped Crusades will have more on this and all of Comic-Con coming soon!
