Hopefully the Ain’t It Cool News writer isn’t that Ambush Bug, as he reported something pretty cool this week: citing what he calls “a VERY reliable source,” he says Valiant’s series Archer & Armstrong is next in line to get the movie treatment. He even shares some early details, claiming that it will be based on the most recent volume of the comic, feature the Eternal Warrior as a guest star and pit the awesome odd couple against the One Percent for a bit of a topical touch.

With other Valiant properties in the movie pipeline as well, this seems to be a sign of two things. One is that Hollywood is willing to go outside Marvel and DC to find ideas for comic book movies. The other is that there’s a sense that there’s an enduring appetite for the Valiant characters, perhaps driven by the fact that this is the 25th anniversary of the company’s original incarnation.

In any case, Archer & Armstrong is a concept that would definitely work on the big screen, pairing a spiritual man who can instantly copy any combat style he sees (not unlike Marvel’s Taskmaster or Echo) with a loud-mouthed immortal who’s got a fondness for adult beverages. Now if we could just get X-O Manowar going toward a movie release, all would be right with the world.
