Would The Flash be a proper examination of the adventures of the Fastest Man Alive if there was no Captain Cold on it? He is, after all, the number one Rogue we’d like to see on the new show this fall.

Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about a TV world without Leonard Snart in it. The show’s executive producers revealed today that Snart will appear in the fourth episode of Season 1, and that he’ll be played by a familiar face: Wentworth Miller, one of the stars of the former Fox series Prison Break.

In the comics, Snart is one of the Flash’s most enduring enemies, able to freeze objects instantly and pull off a number of nifty cold-related tricks thanks to a cold gun of his own design. The current, New 52 version of Captain Cold had these same powers incorporated into his body for a while, but he lost them and has to use the gun again in stories being published right now.

Captain Cold has often been the leader of the Rogues, a group of Flash villains that he manages to keep on his side thanks to his force of personality and an adherence to his own code of ethics. That makes him an even more integral part of Barry Allen’s life than just a mere villain, and it’s the reason that Flash fans everywhere are going to be excited when they hear that executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “We’ll be seeing his origin and the origin of the Rogues.”

The premiere of The Flash is set for Tuesday, October 7 on The CW.
