Star-Lord Meets His Fellow Guardians Of The Galaxy In New Extended Clip

If you were watching USA last night during one of the Fast and Furious movies, you may have seen a new, five-minute-long clip for Guardians of the Galaxy. If not? Hey, that’s why we’re here.

The new footage shows extended looks at some of the scenes we’ve seen in the first batch of trailers, including Rhomann Dey running down each member of the not-yet-a-team for his fellow Nova Corps members. Most importantly, the Guardians don’t know each other yet, which is obvious from the conversation that Star-Lord and Rocket have while being led to their cells.
Interesting tidbits include Rocket not realizing he’s a raccoon, Star-Lord getting his first dose of Groot’s limited vocabulary, and the hint that Yondu — who in the comics is part of the team from the future that first sported the Guardians of the Galaxy name — helped raise Star-Lord after he was orphaned in his youth.
And as for Drax? Well, he doesn’t say much of anything in this clip, but then he’s always been the strong, relatively silent type. It’s getting awfully close to Guardians of the Galaxy time, as the red carpet world premiere is tonight, and the movie starts showing the night of July 31 in advance of its official August 1 release date.
