Report: Plastique Will Appear in Season 1 Of The Flash
By Nick Tylwalk
That’s the scoop from TVLine’s Michael Ausiello, who revealed in his mailbag column yesterday that Bette Sans Souci, better known as Plastique, will appear in the first season of The Flash. Like her comics counterpart, she’ll be an explosive expert that eventually gains the ability to make things explode without the use of bombs.

In an interesting twist, Ausiello thinks she’ll be aligned with the Flash. She’s been a villain most often in the comics, except for a brief time when she developed feelings for Captain Atom. Her New 52 incarnation has been purely villainous to date.
The most interesting connection is that Plastique made her debut in the 1980s run of Fury of Firestorm, and we already know that Robbie Amell will be playing Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm on the show. Whether this is a sign that we should expect more Firestorm-related characters to show up or (more likely) the series’ creators are simply picking and choosing Silver Age DC characters they think will work in the context of the show remains to be seen.
Clearly, The Flash will use the particle accelerator accident that gives Barry Allen his powers to impact a bunch of other people in Central City. I’d expect it’s going to be a season-long storyline, and as long as it doesn’t get to the heights of “everyone was affected by kryptonite!” that we saw in the early stages of Smallville, it should be an effective plot device.
The Flash speeds onto The CW on Tuesday nights this fall, beginning on October 7.
