‘Batman: The Eternal Knight’ Panel Highlights!
By Skip Harvey
DC’s Batman: The Eternal Knight panel was star studded with Bat-talent like Batman writer Scott Snyder, Batman & Robin writer Peter Tomasi and Pat Gleason, Detective Comics writer Brian Buccellato, Batman/Superman (still wish it was called World’s Finest) writer Greg Pak, Batwoman writer Marc Andreyko and Batman editor Mark Doyle.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Batman Eternal is the ‘spine’ of the Bat-universe and big things will be spinning off from it in October
- Robin Rises will mark the unofficial end of the Batman and Robin run that began with the New 52 launch. ‘It’s going to be a 40-some odd-part story with a ‘War And Peace’ feel to it, you’ll see as a story, when it comes to a conclusion there’s a real clear through line to those very first issues…the last ‘Robin Rises’ in December has a one two-punch that delivers a Robin back to the DCU.’
- They revealed the new Batman ‘Hell Bat’ armored costume he will utilize in later stories, which will be more sci-fi oriented. He will even run into the New Gods at some point.
- Buccellato and Francis Manapul plan to reimagine Anarchy – the character ‘inspired’ by Alan Moore’s V.
- Batman/Superman will travel to Earth 2! ‘Batman and Superman get back into our world, and they have a fresh start…the big question is ‘What would happen if when beginning their careers, Batman met Lois Lane and Superman met Catwoman?’ – Greg Pak
- In Batwoman they are introducing a new group called The Unknowns which will draw on darker characters like Clayface, Ragman and The Demon
- Snyder has already planned out the Return of the Joker
