SDCC 2014: Evangeline Lilly Is Hank Pym’s Daughter, Corey Stoll Is Yellowjacket In Ant-Man
By Nick Tylwalk
UPDATE: Now Lilly herself has tweeted out that it’s Hope Van Dyne, not Hope Pym. We’ve updated our post to reflect the ongoing confusion.
With anticipation building to a fever pitch for the Marvel Studios panel in Hall H at Comic-Con International, Ant-Man was the first upcoming movie to have some reveals (as live blogged on Marvel.com). First-time SDCC attendees Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas were both on hand, along with director Peyton Reed.

The big news revolved around two cast members whose roles were previously unknown. Evangeline Lilly will play Hope Van Dyne or Hope Pym, the daughter of Douglas’ Hank Pym. Corey Stoll will feature as Darren Cross, a former business partner of Pym who takes their company in a “bad direction” and uses the Pym particles to wreak havoc as a villainous Yellowjacket.
Ant-Man was described once again as a heist film, with Rudd’s Scott Lang teaming up with Pym after Cross goes bad. Shooting on the film won’t start until August 18, but fans and press at the panel did get to see a sizzle reel that showed off some of the movie’s visual effects.
Lilly’s role is especially intriguing. Is she the daughter of Pym and Janet Van Dyne, as the confusion over her name seems to suggest? Will she end up as the Wasp?
Good questions, but ones that will have to wait until production on Ant-Man gets cranked up in earnest.
