The first ever Wizard World Richmond Comic Con is getting a Death of Wolverine #1 exclusive cover by John Tyler Christopher, which will be available at the show on September 12-14. As you can see here, the cover depicts some of Logan’s female X-Men teammates paying their last respects — though we’re not expecting that he’ll actually kick the bucket in the first issue of the limited series by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven.
Christopher also did a variant of Amazing Spider-Man #1 earlier this year for Atlanta Comic Con. This one is limited to 3,000 copies and will be given to all VIP attendees in Richmond, plus Christopher will be on hand to sign it.
“John Tyler Christopher has proven time and time again why he’s one of the best cover artists working today,” Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel said in a statement. “He knows how to make a cover that really jumps out at you, and we couldn’t be happier with the design he’s turned in for this exclusive cover for Richmond Comic Con.”
A nice lineup of notable artists are also expected as guests in Richmond, including Neal Adams, Ethan Van Sciver, Kevin Eastman, Kevin Maguire and Greg Horn. Other areas of pop culture will also be well represented, as Adam West and Burt Ward of Batman, WWE superstars Batista (playing now in theaters everywhere as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy) and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and a handful of stars from The Walking Dead are all scheduled to be on hand at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
