Caped Crusades Reviews: Grayson #2

facebooktwitterreddit

Here’s the my second review from my latest comic shop run, Grayson issue #2 with story written by Tim Seeley and art by Mikel Janin, Gullermo Ortego, and Juan Castro! Here are my thoughts as I was reading the comic.

Dick’s Spyral partner Helena Bertinelli (aka the Huntress), has an interesting cover in Grayson, she is the headmistress of a girl’s boarding school. Twice while talking to Batman over a secure channel Dick refers to someone as Red Riding Hood. I’m not going to lie I thought Red Riding Hood referred to Jason Todd as he is the Red Hood, but it actually refers to Barbara Gordon.

I sort of wonder, is it the hypnos implants that make Minos look like he does or does he really just have a swirl for a face as that is what we readers see too. One of Spyral’s agents, The Hood shows up severely injured right in the middle of Helena’s crossbow class. I had never heard of The Hood so I had to look him up for this review. This is what I found on comic vine about The Hood:

"An English vigilante employed by the British secret service, operates around London. His name comes From Robin Hood and the like English hero he takes from the rich criminals to give to the poor."

You can see the full comic vine on The Hood right here. Dick and Helena have an interesting dynamic going on and I can’t wait to see where Tim Seeley and the rest of the creative team will take that. Minos is clearly deeply disturbed as he is now referring to superheroes as gods and wants to ‘bring Heaven crashing down to Earth’.
