When a trailer shows a mind-controlled Batman looking to do harm to Robin, you know things are about to get real.

Of course when the trailer in question is for Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, you know there’s bound to be some playfulness to it too. But make no mistake, the scope of this Lego Batman outing has expanded dramatically, and that’s because the stakes are huge. Brainiac has arrived, and he’s made it clear he’s no longer content with bottling up cities. He wants to collect the whole planet, and as the Joker helpfully points out, it would be nice to carry around the whole world in your pocket. It’s no wonder Batman needs the help of the entire Justice League on this one.
To pile on the bad news, it appears Brainiac is harnessing the power of every color of the emotional spectrum — represented by Green Lantern and the various Lantern Corps — to make sure he accomplishes his goal. Don’t miss the Joker’s show-stopping song and dance number that closes out the trailer. I liked it better than Lex Luthor did.
In any case, this looks awesome not just for Batman fans, but for DC fans in general. Look for it this fall on just about every video game platform under the sun.
