Liam Neeson Says He’d Play Ra’s Al Ghul On Arrow If Asked

So we already have a pretty good idea that the Big Bad in Season 3 of Arrow is going to be Ra’s al Ghul, we just don’t know who’s going to be playing Batman’s eternal enemy. Here’s an idea: how about the guy who’s already filled that role on the big screen?

More from TV

Liam Neeson is that guy, having portrayed Ra’s al Ghul in Batman Begins. He also told MTV he’d jump at the chance to revisit the character:

"I would, in a heartbeat, if it came my way, yeah. Very much so."

Ah, but therein lies the catch. While it would undoubtedly be a fantastic bit of stunt casting — and it’s Liam Neeson, so it’d be cool to see him on TV in any capacity — DC’s TV plans seem to be to dance around the Batman universe without plunging into it. It’s surprising to see Ra’s al Ghul in a bigger role at all, honestly, with Gotham set to debut on another network this fall.

More than anything, though, Warner Bros. and DC have shown no inclination to link their movie and TV universes the way Marvel has done. It would be even more confusing to have a current show connected to a run of Batman movies that don’t even star the current Dark Knight, Ben Affleck. Neeson may be willing, but it would be a big surprise if he gets that call.
