Supergirl Would Be An Awesome Show For A Premium Cable Channel
By Nick Tylwalk
So if this Supergirl show that’s being buzzed about ever gets off the ground, where exactly is it going to end up? E! Online says The CW has already said no thanks, so we’re not going to see Superman’s cousin fly around making guest spots on Arrow or The Flash.

Fox seems unlikely too. Even if Gotham ends up being a smash hit, you don’t want to even potentially confuse and/or irritate viewers by explaining why two shows based on DC Comics aren’t set in the same universe. And there’s no way you’d want them any other way.
Of course other networks could get in on the action, but wouldn’t it make the perfect show for a premium cable channel like HBO or Showtime (or even AMC, though it’s not technically a premium channel)? Those channels have history spending money on shows that are worth it, which is what you’d want for a show about Supergirl. They’ve produced such good series over the 15 years or so that even though it’s a genre show, viewers would automatically take it more seriously. Heck, that’s already happening with HBO’s remake of Westworld.
Last but not least, viewers know that HBO or Showtime series don’t obey the normal TV season rules. A Supergirl show could start whenever it’s ready, run for as many episodes as make sense, and everyone involved could simply concentrate on telling the best stories possible.
Warner Bros. and DC, you may very well already be talking to the pay channels, but if you aren’t, please give it some thought. It could be a brilliant move for super heroes on TV.
